What forms of payment do you accept? We accept Cash and checks with Florida photo ID. Any returned checks will be subject to a $50 fee.
What should I bring:? Money! We also suggest bringing a laundry basket with a rope tied around it (so you can drag it behind you) or a stroller (be sure to check it in at the door) to hold your items while you shop or a large (reusable) shopping bag. We will have bags at check-out to put your purchased items in, but you will probably want something to hold items while you shop. Finally, we suggest bringing a small tape measure and each of your children's measurements, so you can best estimate fit of clothing items.
Are children allowed? Of course! But please be aware that a large area full of toys will be VERY tempting, particularly for young children. Parents are expected to watch and control their children.
Can we "try on" the clothing? Sorry, but no - all clothing items will be secured on hangers to prevent theft. We suggest measuring your child's current clothes at home (inseam, length, waist etc), then bring a tape measure to check for the correct size.
What items do you sell? Girl's clothing infant thru teen, Boy's clothing infant thru size 20, Maternity, Toys, Outside and Inside play equipment, Linens and Bedding, Shoes, Bedroom Decor, Baby Equipment, Books, Bikes, Videos, or anything else to do with kids!
Who runs the sales? GFWC Sebastian River Junior Woman’s Club is
a local, nonprofit civic organization.
The majority of what is raised in the sale will go right back to our
community as scholarships and donations to local charitable organizations or to
benefit local citizens in need. St. Sebastian Catholic Church, our
gracious hosts for the sale, will also keep a portion of the profits from the
sale.
I don't want to bother with tagging items. Can I just donate items for the sale? YES. However if you do so, you will not receive any portion of the sales. The Club also reserves the right to turn down items for donation for any reason and to redirect any donations to local charities at our discretion. We aren't really soliciting for donations - if you have good condition items, we encourage you to sign up as a seller so you can keep a significant portion of the sales price for items.
What percentage of the sales do I receive? Sellers receive 70% of their sales less a $4.00
selling fee. Sellers who also work at
least one 4-hour volunteer shift receive 75% of their sales with the selling
fee waived.
Do you
accept tags from other sales? Maybe.
If you already have items tagged from another similar sale, please
contact the sale manger and provide your seller code from that sale and a photo
of the tags from that sale. You will
receive a response within 48 hours.
If I sell items, do I have to stay during the sale? NO. Consignors check in their items on Wednesday evening or Thursday morning and come back on Sunday to pick up their unsold items, if desired.
I've read through the Merchandise Preparation guidelines and still don't understand how to prepare and tag items. Is there a place I can ask questions or get live help? YES! You can Contact the sale manager at any time via email or by phone message. We will be holding an optional "Tagging Party" on Thursday, July 21, 2011 at 7 pm at the GFWC Sebastian River Junior Woman's Club Sara Wentworth Memorial Clubhouse (on US-1).
My items look fine, but several of my items were
turned away at check-in because of a minor stain (or missing button, or missing
piece). Why can’t I sell them? The Merchandise Preparation Guidelines will
be strictly adhered to, and they clearly indicate NO stains, tears, missing
buttons, etc. In order for this sale to
be successful, it is very important that we provide an experience that provides
quality, good condition items. We want
the shopping experience to be more like purchasing new items than going to a
garage or thrift store.
When do I pick up my unsold items? Unsold items are to be picked up on Sunday, August
15 from 1 pm to 5 pm. All items not picked up by Sunday, August 15 at 5
pm will automatically become property of GFWC Sebastian River Junior Woman’s
Club and be donated. We apologize, however no exceptions can be made to this
policy.
What do I do if I know I cannot pick up my unsold items on Sunday? At check-in on Wednesday or Thursday, you may designate a friend or other person to pick up items on Sunday on your behalf.
Do I have to sort through the racks to find my
unsold items? No, when you
pick up your unsold items, your items will already be sorted for
easy pickup.
How long does it take to receive my earnings? You should receive your check within 1 week of the
end of the sale. You will be notified via email a place and time to pick them up, or you may provide a stamped, self-addressed envelope
at check-in.
How many items can I bring in to sell? As many as you’d like!
Presale Questions
Who is allowed to shop at the preview sale? Only volunteers, consignors and expectant and first
time parents (who were issued a 7 pm presale pass) are able to shop at the
preview sale before opening day.
Can I bring my husband/wife/relative with me to the
preview sale? Each volunteer
and seller is given 1 ticket, for 1 person to enter the preview sale.
First Time Moms with a pass and attending the First Time Moms presale beginning
at 7 pm may bring along a husband or parent to help them shop.
Why do some expectant and first-time parents get
to come to the presale? We anticipate having lots of baby clothing and
items at the sale, as well as maternity items.
Expectant and first-time parents logically will not be able to sell
items. In order to help publicize the
sale to this demographic, we are offering 7 pm presale passes to a limited
number of first-time new and expectant parents.
Are children allowed at the preview sale? Sorry, but except for infants in carriers or
strollers, no young children are allowed at the presale (unless accompanying a
volunteer actually working their shift during the presale). Teenaged sellers or volunteers are allowed
with their presale pass. All children
are welcome during the regular sale hours, provided they are supervised by a
parent.
